Zippity Doo Dah weekend is fast approaching. We are less than two weeks away from Fondren’s third annual weekend long festival. The celebrations will be starting on Friday, March 22 with the Big Hat brunch at Sal and Mookie’s restaurant, followed by the Street Dance on Friday night featuring The Bouffants. One new kickoff event this year is the Fashion Runway Show at The Cedars. This high energy entertaining fashion show is coordinated by Social South Magazine and starts at 11 a.m. on Friday Morning.
Then, get ready for all the fun on Saturday. Another new addition this year is a children’s character breakfast at Walker’s in Fondren. The Color Me Rad race will begin at nine on Saturday morning. This nationally-recognized 5 K walk/run race is fun for the whole family. Wear your white and prepare to get color bombed! After the race, the fun continues with two different children’s carnivals. The grand finale is Saturday night with the Zippity Doo Dah Parade. This year’s parade includes the Budweiser Clydesdales, the Jackson State Sonic Boom, and the famous Sweet Potato Queens.
This is sure to be a fun filled family weekend for a great cause. Proceeds from the weekend activities go to the Friends of the Children’s hospital. Over the past two years, this event has helped raise more than 100,000 dollars for this cause! For more information about the weekend visit the website!
