Farmers Markets are becoming more popular as people are starting to become aware of all the harmful substances in processed foods. People want to know where their food is coming form, who’s growing it, and if it’s truely organic. Farmers Markets are also a great way for citizens to support their local farmers.
There are several Farmers Markets in the Jackson area worth checking out!
1. Mississippi Farmers Market
Located in downtown Jackson at 929 High Street , Jackson MS
They are open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays 8:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.
Febuary – December
They have a large selection of fresh fruit and vegtabeles. Their prodcuts come from both large and small local farms.
2. Livingston Farmers Market
Located in Madison at 129 Mannsdale Rd., Madison, MS (The intersection of HWY 463 & HWY 22)
Thursday Nights 4:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.
May 17th-October 4th
They have local produce as well as local art. It’s fun for the whole family. They have a live band and a kids slip’n slide each week.
Located in Canton on the square
Saturday 8:00 a.m.- Noon
June- the end of harvest
They have a selection of fresh vegetables, herbs, and eggs. Every 3rd Saturday they have a live band!
4. Fresh at Five
Located in Clinton on Olde Towne’s Jefferson Street
Tuesday Nights from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.
Clinton’s Farmers market offers a varity of home grown produce as well as homemade foods from local venders.
